My Involvement
Marlies & Daan live in Nottingham but didn’t know the area that well as they had recently moved there from their home in the Netherlands. We first met about 9 months before their wedding day and Marlies & Daan told me of the plans they had already made, they had booked the beautiful Colwick Hall Hotel and the horse & carriage company and Marlies had found her dress! They now needed help sourcing local trusted suppliers and help incorporating a Dutch theme into their day. We decided orange tulips were a must and the theme developed from there... I suggested a florist and a cake maker who suited their requirements and arranged for them to meet with a local photographer for a pre-wedding shoot. Over the months everything fell into place, Marlies found some blue and white Dutch ornaments that would double as a place name and favour for their guests and I made all the final arrangements with the venue and suppliers.
My services accumulated on the day when I arrived nice and early to set up the ballroom ready for the ceremony and get everything in place for the room to be turned around for the wedding breakfast then again for the evening reception. Everything was set as guests stared to arrive, I was on hand giving out the orange umbrellas as guests were asked to wait outside for the arrival of the bride & groom, just in time before the rain begun, the bride & groom arrived on the horse and carriage. After a beautiful ceremony and delicious wedding breakfast, Marlies & Daan impressed guests with their first dance. I had arranged for them to have a number of dance lessons before the big day and it certainly paid off!
